The Northwest is known for great coffee, and here in Hermiston, OR, we have some great coffee shops that provide alternatives to the run-of-the-mill chain places you might be used to. We’d like to suggest a few of our favorites for you to try.
Obie’s Express
When you’re in a big hurry, stop by Obie’s Express at 540 South Highway 395. They open at 5:30 AM during the week and at 7 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. They close at 2 PM every day. This is a nice little coffee shop with a great atmosphere for having a quiet chat with friends. It’s also spotlessly clean and offers delicious treats along with your coffee drink. Customer service is spot on.
Try their White Tigers, which are delicious and can be made keto-friendly using Breve. They offer great espresso, Italian sodas, and blended drinks. There are lots of sugar-free syrup flavors available. They also have a decent array of sandwiches for lunch, bagels and croissants for breakfast, and baked goods like muffins and cookies.
Boardman Jumpstart Java
We love stopping at Boardman on an early morning. They are located at 103 Front St. NE SE and open at 5 AM during the week. On Saturday they open at 6 AM and on Sunday at 7 AM. During the week, they close at 7 PM, and on the weekend they close at 6 PM. They’re popular in the area for the great prices, wonderful customer service, and lots of variety to espresso drinks.
Order an Americano if you appreciate a perfectly brew drink that is not bitter or burnt, or order one of their 30 recommended espresso drinks. There are lots of sugar-free syrup options and plenty of alternatives to regular dairy. They also have some great specials to watch out for, and they’ll do something delicious for your dog, too, if you just ask.
Farm Grounds Coffee
This is a popular local spot located at 190704 WA-221 in Paterson. It’s a little bit of a drive, about 20 minutes, but it’s really worth it. It’s clean, absolutely delicious, and has some of the best choices for food and drink you’ll find at any coffee shop anywhere. In addition to all your expected espresso drinks and non-coffee alternatives, they also offer many interesting specialty drinks.
For example, they have an infused Red Bull grape lime ricky, a huckleberry ice cream Lotus spritzer, and a Tangy Tulip infused lemonade. You can get mochas like brownie batter cookie dough and Almond Joy, a banana bread latte, or a sticky caramel white chocolate mocha. Try one of their delicious breakfast sandwiches on a bagel, English muffin, or croissant. Get a Panini, bagel sandwiches, delicious subs, and wraps like chipotle chicken or honey mustard ham for lunch.
